Album Cover Meme
1 - Go to "Wikipedia." Hit “Random Article”
or click http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
The first random wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.

2 - Go to "Random quotations"
or click http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3
The last four or five words of the very last quote of the page is the title of your first album.

3 - Go to flickr and click on “explore the last seven days”
or click http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days
Third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.

4 - Use Photoshop or similar to put it all together.

I don't know what I am doing since I am not exactly a graphic design student. I did this for practice (sort of), and stress relief since I have been getting stuck on my English essay. It was really fun though I did this quickly. Most of the time was invested on choosing the appropriate typeface.

I kind of like the art of album covers, I think it can give a very different context to the songs they contain. I especially liked indie album art because they tend to be rather illustrative/contextual than being pretty. Such as Mount Moriah's Miracle Temple, Rachael Yamagata's Heavyweight... Do you have any album art that you like?

Initially I wanted to play around with the image more but then I thought it'd be a good practice to come up with something only using bare necessities. I used a pre-installed typeface too because to be honest I don't really have a lot of custom fonts in my PC. I tend to just grab the image from dafont when I need to use custom font to save space...

It was actually quite difficult to improvise in a limited time frame and with such basic items, but maybe that's because I am really not used to the graphic design workflow?

If you want to give this meme a chance, please do! I'd love to see what you came up with!
